Gibraltar

Of all the places we visited in Spain, Gibraltar was our least favorite. We drove south to the most southern tip of Spain to visit the rock. Gibraltar is a British Colony. To enter you must go through customs and show your passport. This was a fairly easy task with a short line of cars. Once we were in, we headed for the cable car that would take us to the top of the rock. We found a parking space and went to the ticket office. Last car up 5:45 pm, current time 5:50 pm sorry, we are closed! Disappointed, but still up for an adventure we decided to check out the gardens located in the same area as the cable car. We took a nice stroll through the gardens and then we decided to take a drive around. Be prepared, the streets are about 10 feet wide, less in most areas where cars park up on the side walks. Most are two way and when you happen to come up on a local traveling the opposite way there is no question, you are expected to back up and get out of their way. After a few rounds with the locals we decided it was time to get out of Gibraltar. We headed for the exit to find that most people are leaving Gibraltar. Our short line in just a hour earlier did not prepare us for the long, long line out. It looked like a line for a Disney ride. The cars were routed through zig zagging lanes leading up to the customs gates. While in line we witnessed a motorcycle accident. The motorbikes in Gibraltar go just about anywhere to avoid sitting in traffic, this one went into the side of a car doing a u-turn. About an hour later we hit the customs gates, our car was searched and off we went, back to beautiful Spain.
