Bangkok
We made our way to the Sky Train and headed for the river. We took the water taxi up river to Wat Phra Kaeo and the Grand Palace. It was a short walk to the Palace from the dock through a local day market. We were prepared for the local Touts who approched us and told us that the temple was closed until 1:00. They offer guided tours in their taxi but end up taking you to a tailor or gem shop that pays them a commission. We worked our way through them and made it to the open temple that was only a few blocks away.
Remember, if you visit a temple in Thailand, you must wear long pants or you will have to rent them to get in.
