We booked our air travel to Chiang Mai at the Bankok airport when we arrived on our first day. The flight from Bankok was only about an hour and we arrived in Chiang Mai at about two in the afternoon. After spending three nights in Bankok, we were ready to get out to the country and start our Northern Thailand tour.  Chiang Mai is famous for its night market and the Wat Prathat temple on Doi Suthep. We planned on experiencing both as well as taking a mountain treck, spending a night with a hill tribe,  and taking a full day cooking school when we returned from our treck.
Sunset from our hotel window on the 17th floor the night we arrived. There was a visible haze in the air caused by crop fires througout Northern Thailand.

Cindy ready to get the day started. She called it a "Good Hair Day"
Chiang Mai Street Food at one of the local day markets. Whole fish on a stick. From the water tub to the grill. That's about as fresh as it gets!
