Phuket
We flew from Chiang Mai back to Bangkok to catch another to Phuket. The flight from Bangkok to Phuket was only about an hour. We arrived in Phuket late afternoon and we had a car waiting for us. The car was provided by our hotel, Layalina. We decided to treat ourselves to a boutique hotel in Phuket. After much research and checking out the reviews we selected the Layalina Hotel. Layalina reminded us alot of a The Hotel Deseo in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. The Layalina was fantastic. Located right on the beach we had an unobstructed ocean view from two floors. We even had an ocean view from the whirlpool tub and open shower in our bathroom. Upstairs, we had a private balcony, we received two free 55 minute massages and they served a light breakfast by the pool every morning. We had everything we needed within walking distance in our beach town Kamala. Great restaurants, fun bars and walks on the beach every morning. It was heaven. We did rent a motorbike for a day and we took a tour along the coast to the southern veiwpoint and back up the coast to a secluded, beach just north of Kamala. We took a boat tour out to the Phi Phi Islands for some snorkling.

Our chef for the evening prepares fresh giant prawns on a wood fire in front of the restaurant. All of their fresh fish was displayed outside on ice. You picked your fish and they cooked it for you on the grill.

After dinner we hit the streets for a nightcap. Cindy got some lessons on hustling drinks to the tourists from our new friend, the bar girl.

What started out as a quick lunch on the beach turned into two hours of food, ice cold beer and relaxing under an umbrella enjoying a cool ocean breeze.

We took the bike to the mountain lookout. The beach farthest away in the picture is Kamala.

Back up the coast just north of Kamala we parked the bike to explore a remote beach only accessable from this trail or by boat.

Remote yes, private no. Turns out it's a very well known spot. We hung out for about an hour and had a great swim to cool off.

Each morning we walked along the beach with our coffee. The long boats would travel up and down the coast setting up shop to take people out to the islands.
